National Museum of the Marine Corps Set To Expand With New Hotel & Conference Center

Marine Corps Heritage Foundation Announces Plans for Prince William County Addition

Dumfries, Va. – The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation has announced its plan to expand the Marine Corps Heritage Center with the development of a new hotel and conference center to be located adjacent to the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, Va. Situated on 10 acres of land within the Marine Corps Heritage Center complex, the new development will contribute significantly to the growth of travel and tourism to Prince William County by bringing a large-scale, state-of-the-art hotel, conference center and event space to the region. The facility will also feature a full-service restaurant and lounge, an indoor/outdoor pool, a fitness center, gift shop and business center.

“The development of this new facility is a tremendous step forward in completing our vision for the Marine Corps Heritage Center as a complex dedicated to the service of Marines,” said LtGen Ron Christmas, President & CEO of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. “The addition of a hotel and conference center will not only advance the mission of the Marine Corps University, but also significantly benefit Marines and their families visiting the National Museum of the Marine Corps and Quantico Marine Corps Base, as well as all visitors to the historic attractions of Prince William County.”

“The addition of a hotel and conference center adjacent to the National Museum of the Marine Corps is welcome news. It will satisfy the needs of the thousands of visitors to the museum and other area historical sites as well as providing a much needed local venue for conferences and events. I am very excited about the benefits to be derived from the planned addition and my continuing association with the Foundation,” said Prince William County Supervisor Maureen Caddigan.

With the support of Prince William County officials, the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation will be responsible for overseeing the construction, operation and maintenance of the new hotel and conference center. A selection of a developer/operator will commence in the near future.

Dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Marine Corps history, the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation was established in 1979 as a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization. The Foundation supports the historical programs of the Marine Corps in ways not possible through government funds, providing grants and scholarships for research and the renovation, restoration and commissioning of historical Marine Corps artifacts and landmarks. Securing the necessary funding for the complete construction of the National Museum of the Marine Corps and Heritage Center is the Foundation’s current primary mission while continuing to provide program support for the Corps’ historical, museum, and educational activities.
