The DuSable Museum of African American History announced that 2011 marks the 50 year Anniversary of the Museum’s preservation of African and African American history and culture! The museum will celebrate this milestone during the annual “A Night of 100 Stars Gala,” on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the DuSable Museum.
The Museum’s 50th Anniversary is a year long journey of stellar service to the community and an unequaled interpretation of the African American experience. As a signature celebration of African American achievement, the Gala salutes African American individuals that have left an indelible imprint on the community-at-large, while strengthening the legacy of leadership for future generations.
All of Chicago can anticipate a “star-filled” night as guests walk the Red Carpet upon entering the Museum, indulge in signature cocktails and hor d’oeuvres, partake of a lavish buffet supper prepared by a “constellation of caters,” enjoy world-class entertainment and attend the presentation of the “2011 Night of 100 Stars Awards,” during this black-tie celebration, which has become the most sought-after ticket in town.
Inaugurated in 1992, this remarkable event draws nearly 700 business, education, civic, cultural and community-minded individuals from across the Chicagoland area. Guests are afforded a unique opportunity to engage with a diverse audience, while demonstrating their commitment to art and culture.
Tickets are $300 and $500 (Legacy Circle) per person and can be purchased online or by calling Diane McCain, Director of Development at (773) 420-2727. All tickets will be held at the door. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Proceeds will benefit the museum’s educational programs and exhibitions. Past honorees have included Sherri Shepherd, Melvin Van Peebles, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Lerone Bennett Jr., Quincy Jones, Michael Jordan, Mavis Staples, and Robert Townsend among others.
