For the first time, the Museum of Arts and Design will install a video lounge at the Sculpture Objects & Functional Art Fair, SOFA NEW YORK, which opens April 14-17 at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City. Designed by architect David Ling, MAD Video Lounge at SOFA will feature the work of Barnaby Barford and Sean Capone, Ferrin Gallery | Chris Bathgate, Packer Schopf Gallery | Kiki van Eijk and Joost van Bleiswijk, Berengo Studio 1989 | Erin Yuasa | Alex Gabriel Bernstein, Duane Reed Gallery | Maisie Broadhead, Sienna Gallery.
The lounge will also showcase interviews by artists and designers with work in MAD’s special exhibition “The Global Africa Project”: Evetta Petty/Harlem’s Hat Heaven, Algernon Miller, Sanaa Gateja, Kwetu Afrika Women’s Association Angels, Jack Travis, Cheryl Riley, Joyce Scott, Kim Schmahmann, Loring Cornish, Odili Donald Odita, Ruth Omabegho, Sonya Clark, Tony Whitfield, and Xenobia Bailey.
A special discussion and tour with MAD curator David MacFadden will take place in MAD Video Lounge at SOFA at 2:15pm, Thursday, April 14. This event is open to the public with general admission.
Additional curator and artist discussions for VIP cardholders will take place in the lounge throughout the afternoons of April 14 and 15.
