Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg Presents Gerwald Rockenschaub multidial

Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg presents Gerwald Rockenschaub: multidial 16 April–4 September 2011.

After interventions by Olafur Eliasson (2004), Douglas Gordon (2007) and James Turrell (2009), Gerwald Rockenschaub’s multidial continues the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg’s series of large hall projects. The Berlin-based artist who was born in Linz in 1952 has installed a 66 meters long and 11 meters high wall there, the front is which is completely covered with 385 “subjects,” symbols made of colored adhesive film. It is supplemented by further works which were likewise made especially for this exhibition. Together they form a total work of art in which art history, Pop culture and architecture flow together. The viewer is embroiled in sublime “eye sex” that says much about our everyday world that is flooded by advertising and visual stimuli and which is seemingly open to all possibilities: multidial.
