The Williams College Museum of Art (WCMA) has announced the launch of its new website. The new website, timed to coincide with the museum’s reinstallation project, Reflections on a Museum, ushers in a new era for the museum’s world-wide web presence. The site, now located at http://wcma.williams.edu/, is a new generation model that pulls from various forums to create a dynamic experience for the web visitor. The museum’s blog is much more prevalent, displaying on the homepage and in the footer of the site. The blog allows visitors a behind-the-scenes view into the museum and offers a place for visitors to share their comments on everything from the exhibitions on view to the job of a museum registrar. Web visitors can also easily search the museum’s collection database of nearly 13,000 objects. The search is powered by eMuseum, a web-based software program that integrates with WCMA’s collection database to dynamically publish information to the website.
