Wallingford Museum Abandons Extension Project

The Wallingford Museum has abandoned it’s planned £500,000 extension project, after 177 funding applications failed, reports the Herald Series.

“The volunteer-run museum in Flint House, High Street, had raised more than £60,000 for the new timber frame building since the project began early last year.

But the project received just three cash pledges from 180 applications to grant-giving bodies.

Managing director Stuart Dewey said calling it a day was the right thing to do.

He said: “We are sitting on people’s money and we feel it is going on for too long. If we do not see any results, that puts us in a morally bad situation.”
