Mark Twain Museum Presents Water for Elephant Tribute Exhibit Featuring Paintings by Emma Ginsberg

The Mark Twain Museum ipresents an exhibit of circus paintings by Emma Ginsberg, a Hannibal native now residing in Colorado. The paintings are on display in the Mark Twain Museum Gallery. The exhibit is a tribute to coincide with the cinematic release of Water for Elephants. The film stars Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon, Christoph Waltz and Hal Holbrook. Holbrook serves on the Mark Twain Museum Advisory Board and performed in Hannibal last year in Mark Twain Tonight! Alongside Ginsberg’s circus paintings, visitors will find a Water for Elephants poster autographed by Hal Holbrook.

“I love the old time circus images and posters,” said Ginsberg. “The whole fantasy world of the circus is intriguing. I made these as my last illustration project in college in 2007. I wanted to make them sepia toned for aging effects, but also to set the mood of the ominous dark circus that enchants so many people.”

In 2007, Ginsberg, daughter of Mike and Pam Ginsberg created the 5 original paintings for her final illustration project at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg.

The original acrylic paintings with a watercolor wash will be on display while Water for Elephant plays at B & B Downtown Cinema 8. Those who visit the exhibit will be receive a coupon for a free large popcorn to be used at a Main Street Cinema 8 showing of Water for Elephants.
