Bucks County’s National Historic Landmark Unveils New Addition to House State-of-the-Art Exhibition Gallery and Multi-flex Learning Center)
The Mercer Museum will open it’s new wing on Saturday June 18th, 2011, featuring a state-of-the-art changing exhibition space and Learning Center. Guests will see the Inaugural Exhibit: A World of Things: The Mercer Museum A-Z.
Opening day activities include:
* The first 100 visitors admitted FREE!
* Welcome and Ribbon-cutting: 10 am-10:30 am
* “Henry is in the House” – meet Henry Mercer in the Great Hall, immediately following the ribbon cutting
*“Rollo and Friends: A Mercer Puppet Show.” Performances at 11 am and 2pm in the Learning Center
“A is for Archaeology” Craft Activity, Noon-1:30 pm in the Learning Center
*Craft Demonstration in the Gallery, Bucks County Embroidery Guild, Noon-4 pm
* Make a Print at the Mercer “Expeditions Cart”, 2-4 pm
* “Onj-e Is Natural,” African Rhythms Performance with Nashid Ali and Darlene Yancy, Great Hall, 12:30 & 1:30 pm
*“Drummers with Attitude” Percussion Ensemble, Museum Central Court, 2 pm
*Clifford Cole & LA Williams, “Traditional Celtic Dance Music – Hammered Dulcimer and Fiddle,” Great Hall, 2:30 and 3:30 pm
