International Art Museum of America Opens Oct 15

The International Art Museum of America (IAMA), a permanent art museum located at 1025 Market Street (near 7th Street) in the new downtown San Francisco Central Market Art District, will open to the public on October 15, 2011 from 11 am – 5 pm. The day will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a proclamation from the Mayor of San Francisco and entertainment featuring international opera diva Ms. Brenda Jackson. Admission will be free to museum members. Admission for the general public from 11 am – 3 pm. on Oct. 15 will require a ticket (see pricing below), but the museum will offer free admission for all visitors to the festivities from 3 – 5 pm.

IAMA’s mission is to display the most beautiful and precious art from all over the world to promote the moral progress, spiritual health, and cultural and artistic development of humanity around the globe. The 21,000 sq. ft. facility will feature exquisite waterfall gardens, meeting and event spaces, and a unique museum gift shop. Visitors will enter the museum through a garden with waterfall, ponds and architectural elements. The visitor’s first sensuous impressions will give way to more cerebral delights, including art and architectural elements with elegant design and layout that features excellent craftsmanship. To ensure that its exhibitions meet world-class standards of excellence, each of the art works displayed or collected by the museum has been approved by a majority vote of the museum’s board of directors. Currently, the galleries include a selected retrospective of the work of H.H. DORJE CHANG BUDDHA III, recent recipient of the World Peace Prize, whose art is prominently featured in recognition of His brilliant accomplishments in the areas of painting, sculpting, and calligraphy and include delicate and masterful images of flowers, birds, insects, landscapes, people, and animals in highest-quality Chinese and oil paintings, totally unique Yun sculptures, and a variety of art frames that depict organic material such as withered vines and stone. Also featured are oil paintings, ink on paper drawings and sculptures by PROFESSOR YU HUA SHOUZHI WANG, a cast copper sculpture by WANG ZHIBIN, and two marvelous paintings, “Lions and Lotuses” and “Carp,” by GUO RUYU. The Western paintings collected by IAMA are more than one-hundred-year-old works created by great masters in oil painting.

HOURS/TIMES OF OPERATION: The museum will be open to the public, Tuesday through Sunday, 11 am – 5 pm. beginning October 18, 2011.
LOCATION: Public access is available at the museum entrance located at 1025 Market Street. The museum shop is located at 1023 Market Street, adjacent to the museum building. Inexpensive parking is available on Mission St.

TICKETS: Admission is $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for seniors/students/military with I.D. $5.00 Children 5-17 years; children under 5 yrs. free. Group tour rates are available. The benefit of free admission is offered with membership.
