In his new role, Skavlem will work closely with the Clark’s Director Michael Conforti and with members of its Board of Trustees, Director’s Council, and other principal supporters towards the realization of the Clark’s master plan, furthering the Institute’s mission regionally, nationally, and internationally. He will also serve as the Clark’s primary liaison for government relations and other advocacy efforts.
“John has played a key leadership role in realizing great success in the Clark’s fundraising goals over many years,” said Conforti. “He has been centrally involved in programs that have been vital to the achievement of our institutional goals. John is a respected member of our community and I know he will bring energy and creativity to his new position. He will continue to make important contributions to the Clark’s advancement as we complete our campus expansion project and expand our role as an art museum and center for research and higher education.”
Skavlem, a Williams College graduate, joined the Clark’s staff in 2002 and has served as the director of its capital and major annual fundraising initiatives. He and his family live in Williamstown, where he is an active member of several community organizations. Skavlem was recently elected to serve as a member of the Williamstown Elementary School Committee, and also serves on the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Foundation Board of Directors.
