The Cayuga Museum of History and Art has received a $50,000 grant from the Stardust Foundation of New York to be used for the museum’s theater renovation project, which is planned to open next spring.
Built in 1941, the theater hosted plays, musicals and dance recitals for more than 30 years. In the 1970’s, the building fell into disuse when the company that eventually became the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse moved to Emerson Park.
The Cayuga Museum of History and Art presents the history and culture of Cayuga County, which stretches from Lake Ontario to outside Ithaca. Some of the museum’s displays feature Auburn Correctional Facility.
