The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center’s 1898 Customs House Building in Clarksville is being renovated in order to provide an improved environment for both visitors and artifacts.
While these improvements are being made the following areas will be inaccessible: Heritage Hall, Memory Lane, and the DeWald, Peg Harvill, and Explorers’ Galleries.
From Monday, March 12th, the main entrance to the Museum will be closed so that repairs to the sidewalk can be completed.
The 1898 portion of the Museum was originally designed for use as a Federal Post Office and Custom House to handle the large volume of foreign mail created by the city’s international tobacco business. It is built on the site of a former boarding house.
Located in the heart of historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is the State’s second largest general museum.
