FULTON STREET COLLECTIVE ANNOUNCES SPRING OPEN HOUSE

FSC Spring 2012 Open House & Art Show to showcase local art, music and dance on Saturday, May 12

CHICAGO, Il., – Fulton Street Collective is pleased to announce their Spring 2012 Open House and Art Show. Guests are invited to tour the facility, visit the artists’ studios, and enjoy an evening immersed in local art, music, and performance. The event will be held on Saturday, May 12, 6 p.m. – Midnight at their gallery and studios at Fulton and Damen, 2000 W Fulton Street, 2nd & 3rd Floors, Chicago, 60612. A suggested donation of $10 goes directly to supporting the arts.

Twice a year, the Fulton Street Collective opens its doors to the public to showcase the members’ artwork, the mission of the collective, and the work of their partner organizations. Visitors, FSC supporters, music lovers, and arts enthusiasts alike are invited to enjoy beverages while supporting Chicago’s vibrant and innovative art scene. The event offers a rare opportunity for guests to experience a behind-the-scenes look inside the studios of artists working in a range of media. An eclectic mix of underground entertainment, live music, dance, and performance art will complement the diverse visual art on display.

This year, FSC has organized an impressive roster artists, musicians, and performance groups. Entertainment will include live performances on both floors every half hour including a set at 10pm by Environmental Encroachment, a Chicago-based performance art group known for their use of circus theatrics and artist marching band. Also performing are Laboratory Dancers, Joe LaNasa of Somebody’s Sins, and independent choreographer Kaitlin Fox. The Spring Art Show, a members’ exhibition curated by Jenny Stocker, will be on view in the main gallery. The show will feature a selection of work by FSC members and include painting, sculpture, collage, photography, and other media. Additional exhibitions and installations will occupy shared studio spaces and also feature the work of FSC members.

EXHIBITING MEMBERS include Cate Dingley, Yvonne Doll, Annette Jackson, Dennis Johnson, Steve Juras, Susan Lott, Dhiraj Madura, Patrick Morrissey, Kevin O’Roarke, Karen Parisian, Erika Quinn, Matt Richards, Bikram Singh Saggoo, Todd Siegel, Jenny Stocker, and Kayoua Xiong.

PERFORMANCES BY Environmental Encroachment, Kaitlin Fox, Laboratory Dancers, Joe LaNasa, and Milk Monkey.

PARTICIPATING ORGANIZATIONS include Dream Chicago, Everleigh Social Club, Illinois Art Therapy Association, and Warrior Arts Studios.

ABOUT FULTON STREET COLLECTIVE

Founded in 2002, the Fulton Street Collective is dedicated to the development of artists and the artistic community. Featuring 28 artist studios, a gallery exhibition space, and more than 2500 square feet of resident and shared members’ space, FSC spans two floors and houses studios of emerging and established Chicago artists and creative professionals. FSC members work in a variety of disciplines including painting, sculpture, mixed media, photography, glass, digital media, dance, performance art, and fashion design.
