Carl White, ‘The Sun from Yellow,’ 2011, Art Gallery of Calgary
Born in Liverpool, England in 1969, Carl White studied painting, drawing and graphic design at the Alberta College of Art + Design and has been a full-time artist for over 20 years. White collapses imagery borrowed from mythology and history with a contemporary twist in colour palette and painterly approach. This exhibition illustrates his draftsmanship and narrative approach in forming a new artistic territory based on layers of memory.
