Hermitage No-Kill Cat Shelter Announces the Grand Opening of the Sister Seraphim Memorial Museum

The Hermitage No-Kill Cat Shelter announces the official opening of The Sister Seraphim Memorial Museum at the shelter on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 5-7pm.

After much effort, they have finally been able to give Sister Seraphim the honor she deserves by sharing her story and that of the founding of The Hermitage with the public. This project, which was started in 2010 by board member Jeanmarie Schiller-McGinnis, was originally intended as part of the shelter’s 45th anniversary. However, the research uncovered so much wonderful, forgotten history about this fascinating woman they just had to find a way to preserve and share it with everyone. The end result is probably the only museum within a cat shelter in the world, right here in Tucson! Plus, Sister Seraphim’s contribution to Arizona’s history in the area of animal welfare has been recognized by the Arizona Historical Advisory Commission, who designated the museum in her honor as an official Arizona Centennial Legacy Project. Here at The Hermitage, they couldn’t be more proud of this honor and their history. So, they hope you will join them for this special event.

Wine and Cheese will be served. Please RSVP to by email ([email protected]) or call 520-571-7839. For more information visit www.hermitagecatshelter.org
