With colorful imagery and wildly proliferating installations, Pipilotti Rist has conquered the world of art. Born in 1962 in Grabs SG, it is considered seminal figure in contemporary video art. In 1994, the Kunstmuseum St. Gallen their first museum exhibition, followed by others around the world in major venues: 1994 Kunstverein Hamburg, 1998 at the Hamburger Bahnhof, Museum of Contemporary Art, Berlin, 2001 in the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid, 2007 Magasin 3, Stockholm Konsthall and 2008 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Since time immemorial, the artist deals with the visual and auditory description of the feeling, which produce images and sounds, “if you will be touched or when you touch someone” (Rist). The picturesque treatment, and the expansive production of their videos are just as characteristic of their unique artistic language as spectacular tracking shots and sweeping over images that flow together with alienation and associative montages in dreamlike sequences and an all-encompassing stream of images.

The exhibition of blood-powered cameras and bulging spaces, developed in collaboration with London’s Hayward Gallery and the Kunsthalle in Mannheim, for years Pipilotti Rist’s first comprehensive solo exhibition in Switzerland – and also a temporary return of the artist.
