BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art launches BALTIC Editions, a new specially commissioned range of artist limited edition prints.
The donated works, all by artists who have previously exhibited at the gallery, will go on sale during the birthday year and proceeds from the sales will help support BALTIC’s exhibition and education programme. BALTIC Editions will be exclusively available from BALTIC Shop, online and in-store.

Each of the limited edition prints will be released individually during this year and priced in relation to the number of editions. By purchasing one of these rare and specially commissioned works, collectors will not only receive a great piece of art but will also support our exhibition programme and education and community work for many years to come.”
The series launches with an exclusive new colour print by Dan Holdsworth whose work Mount St. Helens from Spirit Lake, 2012 goes on sale from Friday 13 July 2012.

The photograph was made at Mount Saint Helens in Washington State in the North West United States which forms part of the Cascade Range of volcanic mountains that extends from British Columbia to California and forms part of The Pacific Ring of Fire. It is the most active volcano in the United States and also holds within its caldera the youngest glacier in the world, Crater Glacier. A geometry of pink and orange lens flare in the image appears almost as an emission from the mountain itself, and hints at the influence of landscape within material concerns of West Coast Minimalism, the Sublime, and in some ways echoes James Turrell’s concerns for material light and his interventions within the Roden Crater.
Mount St. Helens from Spirit Lake, 2012, is a limited edition series of 100 prints which are signed and numbered by the artist and retail at £150.
Further details of each of the artist prints will be announced throughout the year. All prints can be purchased in person from BALTIC Shop or online from balticmill.com/editions. Works can be bought using the Own Art scheme, offering an easy and affordable way to spread the cost of purchase over 10 months with an interest free loan.
BALTIC Editions will release eleven prints during 2012 – 2013 and hope to continue this fundraising initiative in subsequent years adding to the collection with works by other significant contemporary artists. – www.balticmill.com
