St. Charles, MO – The Foundry Art Centre is pleased to present their newest exhibition Ka-Pow! Comic Art & Storyboarding, which opens to the public on July 27, 2012.

Action, lively characters and a sequential format have been a longstanding tradition in the comic arts. From a panel cartoon to a graphic novel, comic art storytelling appeals to audiences both young and old. Original works influenced from traditional or contemporary comics executed in any media will be featured in the Ka-Pow! Comic Art & Storyboarding exhibition. This exhibition will be open in the Foundry’s Gallery I & II during regular business hours, through Friday, September 7, 2012.

The opening reception for Ka-Pow! Comic Art & Storyboarding takes place on Friday, July 27, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. The reception is free and open to the public. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

Indiana artist Ian Shelly will also be on premises during the Opening Reception to discuss his exhibit in Gallery III, entitled TRANSIT. The Foundry Art Centre artists will also be in studio during the reception.

Laura Helling, Executive Director for the Foundry Art Centre, notes, “Comic art and storyboarding is an emerging art form, and with the rise in popularity of the comic book and action movie genre, it is nothing like any of the more traditional mediums.”

Helling adds, “Ka-Pow! is a totally different type of exhibition than what we usually offer here at the Foundry, and we’re very excited to be able to bring this unique art form to the St. Charles community.”
