The Season of Giving Begins at the Michener Art Museum

DOYLESTOWN, PA– The fall foliage has yet to show its magnificent colors, but here at the Michener Art Museum it’s never too early to start thinking about giving.

Sherry Tinsman’s annual Trunk Show will kick off the season October 6, from 11 am to 4 pm. Jeweler and metalsmith Tinsman was born in England but has lived along the Delaware River in Bucks County for 22 years, and that’s where she finds the inspiration for her handmade creations. Informed by the natural world, spirals and dogwoods in silver and gold with accents of copper and brass are suitable for everyday wear or special occasions.

Gearing up for the holidays, the Gift of Giving XI will take place in the Education Gallery November 11 through December 16. This annual celebration presents a selection of two and three-dimensional art work created by Centennial School District students from Log College Middle School and Eugene Klinger Middle School.

At the close of the exhibition all works will be gift wrapped and delivered to Trinity Episcopal Church, to be distributed to area residents who are affected by HIV/AIDS. Join us for the exhibition reception on November 11 from 2 to 4 pm for refreshments, entertainment and art activities. This exhibition will be on view during our Holiday Open House, December 11, 2012.

Lead Sponsor for the exhibit is First Savings, Banking – Insurance – Investments, with additional sponsors: FACT, Bucks County, Morrie Breyer & Michael Mamp.
Prefer to make the gifts you give? You can with the Michener’s Holiday Gift-Making Workshop December 1, 1 to 3 pm. Fee: $30 members/ $35 non-members. Every participant will create two beautiful handmade gifts, have the opportunity to wrap them, and create original greeting cards before they bring them home in this all-out gift-making celebration.
