Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art opens 1072 Society Exhibition

Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art presents 1072 Society Exhibition on view November 17, 2012–January 26, 2013.

Each year, a varied selection of art is brought in for consideration of purchase with funds generated by JCSM’s 1072 Society, so-named in honor of the initial purchase of 36 paintings in the Advancing American Art collection for $1,072, in 1948.

Previous 1072 exhibitions have resulted in enhancements to the museum collection through acquisition of works by Albert Fitch Bellows, Red Grooms, Frederick MacMonnies, William Wegman and many others. The 1072 Society is made up of friends of the museum from all walks of life, who make a yearly contribution for the express purpose of acquiring art for the collection. Please make it a point to preview the selection of art under consideration this year.

To make your gift of $1,072 and become part of the next class of our 1072 Society, contact Cindy Cox at 334-844-3005 or [email protected]. – http://jcsm.auburn.edu
