Alaska State Museum announces Holiday Closures

The Alaska State Museum will be closed to the public on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25, 2012, and on New Year’s Day, Tuesday, January 1, 2013.

Temporary exhibits on display at the museum include a solo artist exhibit by Alaska science illustrator Kristin Link entitled Notes from Nature: A Naturalist- Artist in Alaska’s Wilderness; Coastal Impressions: A Photographic Journey Along Alaska’s Gulf Coast – an exhibit sponsored by the Cook Inlet RCAC and developed in partnership with NOAA consisting of images from a geological survey of Alaska’s coastal zones; and Alaska Positive 2012 – the museum’s biennial juried photography exhibit.

Alaska Positive will be on display through January 5, 2013, and Notes from Nature and the Coastal Impressions exhibits will be up through January 12, 2012.

During the weeks of the Christmas and New Year holidays, the museum will be open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Discounted winter admission is $3. Visitors 18 and under are admitted free of charge. An annual pass that allows unlimited visits to the Alaska State Museum and the Sheldon Jackson Museum in Sitka is available for $15.
