The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum will offer special holiday hours on Thursday, December 27 from 10 am to 5:45 pm. Normally closed on Thursdays, the museum is offering special hours to provide visitors with an additional opportunity to view the Guggenheim’s fall exhibitions, including Picasso Black and White, the first major show to focus on the artist’s lifelong exploration of a black-and-white palette.
Other exhibitions on view include the Deutsche Bank Series at the Guggenheim: Gabriel Orozco: Asterisms, a two-part sculptural and photographic installation by the Mexican-born artist; Now’s The Time: Recent Acquisitions, which brings together recently-acquired highlights from the museum’s growing collection of contemporary art; Kandinsky 1911-1913, an intimate presentation of paintings by Vasily Kandinsky, Robert Delaunay, and Franz Marc; A Long Awaited Tribute: Frank Lloyd Wright’s Usonian House and Pavilion, an exhibition comprising exclusively archival material highlighting the first Wright buildings erected in New York City; and the Thannhauser Collection, a selection of canvases, works on paper, and sculpture that represents the earliest works in the museum’s collection.
