The show consists of five video installations produced from 2002 to 2012 and a film series with premiere screenings of his last three productions. The exhibition provides an overview of Farocki’s complex conceptual universe, which revolves around uncovering the ideological processes that the production and reception of images entail. In March, Farocki will give a public interview on his audiovisual work at Proa’s Auditorium.
The exhibition presents five installations that Farocki has made in the last decade, including the premiere of Parallel (2012, 17 minutes). Farocki’s most recent video installation is an essay on the status of computer-animated images. ‘If film and photography interrogated the possibility of representing reality, are digitally generated images capable of surpassing “reality” itself?’ (www.farocki-film.de)
The show also includes Eye / Machine II (2002, 15 minutes), Workers Leaving the Factory in Eleven Decades (2006, 36 minutes), Serious Games III: Immersion (2009, 20 minutes) and The Silver and the Cross (2010, 17 minutes).
The film program includes premiere screenings of A New Product (2012), Farocki’s late project that documents the discussions of a corporate consultancy firm that ‘envision more flexible and individualized working conditions through the use of new spatial concepts. In this, he revels with austere reservation the often-constricting yet humorous situations and only impinges on them through a change of scene or order.’
A selection of films from his extensive production will also be presented: Inextinguishable Fire (1969), Images of the World and the Inscription of War (1988), Videograms of a Revolution (1992, directed with Andrei Ujica), Workers Leaving the Factory (1995), War at a Distance (2003), Nothing Ventured (2004), Yella (2007, directed by Christian Petzold) and, for the first time in Argentina, Respite (2007) and In Comparison (2009). Every Saturday and Sunday during March.
