MOCA GALA Art Auction 2013

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) announces its annual MOCA GALA Art Auction on Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at its exhibition galleries on Bennett Street. Honorees for MOCA GALA 2013 are art patrons and collectors, Mary and Bob Yellowlees. Carol and Ramon Tomé are Host Committee Co-Chairs and Patron Party hosts; and the ever delightful James H. Landon will serve as auctioneer for the evening. MOCA GA is going hi-tech this year! There will be less emphasis on the Live Auction to allow more time in the Silent Auction area, where all bidding will be by buyer’s smart phone and e-notepad or MOCA GA computer. In addition, we will be putting auction items online on a special website (details will be on MOCA GA’s website shortly.) There will be written instructions and lots of staff and volunteers around to help with this new bidding format – guests will even be able to continue bidding on art if they have to leave the event early. A full bar and a lovely buffet catered by one of Atlanta’s finest caterers will be open throughout the evening. Silent auction items will be available for bid from 5:30pm until 9:30pm. The Live Auction will begin at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for the event are $150/person.

For the Live and Silent Auctions, Annette Cone-Skelton, MOCA GA’s Director, and her able and talented Art Selection Committee will present affordable, high quality works of art by an invitation-only, select group of some of Georgia’s best artists, some who are well-known and some exciting new artists.

MOCA GA Board Chair Philip Babb says of the GALA: “You will not only enjoy the usual gala fare, but you will also have the opportunity to take home works of art from some of Georgia’s most talented and accomplished artists. It’s a great way to add to your collection or begin a new one.”

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) collects and archives significant, contemporary works by the artists of the state of Georgia. To place artists in a broader context, the museum’s exhibitions include Georgia artists and artists from around the world. MOCA GA’s programs promote the visual arts by creating a forum for active interchange between artists and the community.

MOCA GA is located at 75 Bennett Street in the TULA Art Center. For more information, call 404-367- 8700, visit www.mocaga.org or email [email protected].
