Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) has partnered with Diablo Custom Publishing (DCP) to develop its Advanced Magazine Tablet Application (App) for the iPad, Droid and Kindle platforms. The Advanced Tablet App will be available through Apple’s iTunes store, Google Marketplace and the Amazon App Store. The app will give OMCA the ability to share content about the Museum and its offerings with new and existing audiences, including Museum members and donors.
OMCA’s Advanced Tablet App will contain feature stories about the Museum, gallery news, new developments, profile features, a calendar of events and much more. Editorial content will be optimized for tablet viewing through enhanced app features including audio, video and interactive content overlays. OMCA’s Tablet App will provide custom buttons that give the reader control over content, and social share will be incorporated into articles. When a reader shares an article via social media, the recipient can read it in a web viewer, enabling an integrated peer-to-peer viral marketing.
The Advanced Tablet App will allow for both horizontal and vertical orientations, and each direction will offer a unique and optimized layout designed by the DCP team. Select pages will contain photo galleries that can be controlled by the reader, and all pages will include assigned hot zones that will pull up a navigation bar, enabling additional control and functionality.
