Museo Nacional del Prado launches The Prado Guide for iPad app

The Museo Nacional del Prado announces the launch of the first official APP of the Museum: The Prado Guide for iPad.

Prado Guide for iPad appAimed at a world-wide audience, this App is now available in five languages: Spanish, English, French, Italian and Portuguese, while from the end of May it will also be offered in German, Russian and Japanese. This App makes the “core” of the Collection available to everyone interested in the history of world art and is aimed at both the general user and experts. It features reproductions of 400 works in exceptionally high quality, accompanied by concise, rigorous and accessible texts written by a team of specialists coordinated by the Museum. First published in its printed version in 2008, 240,000 copies of The Prado Guide are currently in circulation in the 8 languages in which the App format is now also available.

App Features:
• 400 high-quality images, optimised for viewing on high-resolution digital devices, and the inclusion of the images of the backs of triptychs and diptychs that are not visible in the gallery.
• 50 enlarged works that allow the user to move across them and appreciate their details in remarkable close-up.
• 50 related works that enhance knowledge of the work and explain the connections between different artists and the Museum’s collections.
• 5 thematic routes plus suggestions for preparing a visit and for discovering themes with young children.
• The option to select the articles that most interest you through the Favourites function.
• Search by index of the collections or by index of artists.
• Social networks. The option to share contents through the Museo del Prado’s direct Facebook and Twitter links.
