From packed nightclubs to seaside towns in decline, discover the work of photographic pioneers Martin Parr and Tom Wood.

Parr and Wood were some of the first photographers to turn their cameras on modern Britain, elevating everyday life into fine art. Part documentary and part social critique, this represented a new path for photography.

Composed of around 20 works taken in the late 1970s and 80s, the display concentrates on both photographers’ Merseyside work, as well as a small selection of Parr’s Irish scenes. It includes possibly the earliest work by Parr in a public collection (New Brighton, 1977) and images from some of Wood’s seminal projects, such as All Zones Off Peak (bus journeys in and around Liverpool) and Looking for Love (Chelsea Reach nightclub, New Brighton).

This exhibition forms part of the LOOK/13: Liverpool International Photography Festival, which will see dozens of photographic exhibitions and events taking place across the city. www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk
