Saint Louis Art Museum presents Yoko Ono: Wish Tree an exhibition on view through September 2, 2013.
Yoko Ono’s ongoing Wish Tree project is featured at the Museum in honor of this summer’s Grand Opening celebration. An artist, musician, and peace activist, Ono invites visitors to write down a wish on a piece of paper, and then attach the wish to a branch of a Wish Tree.
Over the past few decades and across the world, Ono has been gathering such wishes—now totaling over a million—which are then sent to the Imagine Peace Tower in Reykjavík, Iceland. Created by Ono in memory of her late husband, John Lennon, this tower of light is an extension of Lennon’s legendary and enduring song, “Imagine” and their wishes for world peace. Ono’s Wish Tree project is an inviting participatory art installation for all who carry wishes and dreams wherever they go. www.slam.org
