The Mexican Museum Selects Local Architect

The Mexican Museum, the premier West Coast museum of Mexican, Mexican-American, Chicano, Latin American, and Latino art, culture and heritage, announces that it has selected the joint venture team of A+D, Architecture + Design with Pfau Long Architecture to serve as its local Architect of Record. The lauded duo, which is both SBE and LBE certified through the City and County of San Francisco, will manage the design of The Mexican Museum cultural component of the 706 Mission Street Residential Tower and Mexican Museum Project. Their scope of work includes the development and implementation of the new museum home, and ensuring that the conceptual design of the space is properly executed and expeditiously approved by the appropriate agencies.

Serving as Executive Architects, the A+D (www.a-plus-d.com) with Pfau Long Architecture (www.pfaulong.com) joint venture will work closely with two firms previously-selected and tasked with specific components of the 706 Mission Street Residential Tower and Mexican Museum Project: Handel Architects (Glenn Rescalvo, Partner in Charge), which is in charge of work related to the new tower and the Aronson Building, including the “core and shell” for the new museum space; and TEN Arquitectos (Enrique Norten, Principal in Charge and internationally-renowned Mexican architect), whose primary role is to develop the design concept and schematic design of the museum space itself. The Mexican Museum will occupy the first four floors of the new tower and the Aronson Building in San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Gardens Arts District as part of the mixed-use facility being developed in partnership with Millennium Partners.
