The Museum at Bethel Woods presents Keeping Time: The Photography of Don Hunstein

The Museum at Bethel Woods presents Keeping Time: The Photography of Don Hunstein – The Unseen Archive of Columbia Records an exhibition on view Tuesday, December 31, 2013.

This exhibit highlights the 30-year career of Don Hunstein as in-house photographer at Columbia Records. The company was well known for its recordings of classical and other symphonic music, jazz, and popular music, and Hunstein’s job gave him unique access to the label’s long list of starts. When the young folk singer Bob Dylan made the shocking move to electirfy his music, it initiated Columbia Records decision to shift toward rock ‘n’ roll. Hunstein’s photographs highlight some of the greatest performers of the era including Duke Ellington, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, Simon and Garfunkel, and Stevie Ray Vaughn.
