The Space Foundation’s CEO, Elliot Pulham, will moderate a discussion between Buzz Aldrin and Dr. Tyson as they respond to questions from the audience regarding critical issues surrounding America’s future in space. The evening will also feature cocktails, dinner, an awards program and a live auction.
Buzz Aldrin is an icon in the aerospace industry. He was the Apollo XI Lunar Module pilot for first the successful moon landing in 1969 and the second man to walk on the moon. He has spent more than 4,500 hours of time in flight—290 of those hours were spent in space. Aldrin also holds the world record with a 5½-hour space walk.
World-renowned astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson is the current director of the Hayden Planetarium in New York City. With appearances on popular television shows like “The Colbert Report,” “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “The Big Bang Theory,” Dr. Tyson has become well-known in popular culture. He is also the future host of Carl Sagan’s landmark television series, “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage.”
President and CEO of United Launch Alliance Michael C. Gass is the honorary Chairman of Spreading Wings Gala representing Colorado Aerospace Leadership. And, the emcee and hostess for the event is 9NEWS traffic and weather anchor Amelia Earhart.
