The Museum of Western Colorado presents Distant Treasures in the Mist a new exhibition opening NOVEMBER 8, 2013.
The exhibition will feature Spanish Colonial artifacts found at the Redoubt Site by the Western Investigations Team. These artifacts include fragments of armor, a wheelock pistol trigger guard and an assortment of early iron artifacts. One of the most interesting displays will feature a 60-inch Plexiglas dome that will house artifacts and simulate the high desert environment where they were originally found.
The exhibit will also delve into the myths and legends that drew early explorers and adventurers to our region and tell their story through maps and a variety of unusual artifacts.
