SculptureCenter announce a significant expansion and renovation of its Long Island City facility. Building SculptureCenter Campaign will provide a critical $4.5 million in building funds and $1.5 million in working capital and term endowments to position our organization to play a defining role in the neighborhood and contemporary art field far into the twenty-first century. To date, over half of the $6 million goal has been secured with lead gifts provided by the City of New York, specifically Helen Marshall, Queens Borough President; Jimmy Van Bramer, City Council Member, District 26, and Chair of the Cultural Affairs Committee; the Department of Cultural Affairs; and our Board of Trustees.
The expansion includes a new 2,000 square foot addition to the dramatic existing structure. A one-story entrance lobby will provide ticketing, orientation, and visitor services such as a coatroom, restrooms and seating area. The expansion and renovation will significantly improve the quality of the exhibition spaces and visitor circulation.
