Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art Appoints Don Schreiner as new Director of Development

The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art announced Don Schreiner as its new Director of Development. Schreiner was recently director of major gifts for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City. He began work at the Kemper Museum on October 28.

With the Museum’s Board and Executive Director, Schreiner will shape the philanthropic vision of the institution and develop membership, sponsorship, and major gift fundraising programs as the Kemper Museum approaches its 20th anniversary in 2014. Museum Executive Director Barbara O’Brien said, “Don has the experience to direct and implement a comprehensive program that includes corporate and foundation relations, as well as grant writing and stewardship. He also has a passion for the arts that adds just the right spark of creativity and makes him a marvelous colleague to support the Kemper Museum’s goal of remaining one of Kansas City’s only entirely free cultural institutions.”

Schreiner brings to the Museum a wealth of not-for-profit experience, including more than 20 years of fundraising experience from Powell Gardens, Catholic Charities, and the Unicorn Theatre. A native of Topeka, he holds a Masters of Public Administration from University of Missouri-Kansas City and an art history degree from the University of Kansas. Schreiner is a certified fund raising executive (CFRE), and was recently nominated to serve on the board of the Mid-America Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
