The Centro de Arte Contemporaneo de Malaga presents the first solo exhibition in Spain and a museum of Kati Heck, on view December 13 2013 to March 16, 2014.
The exhibition KOPF = Kopfnuss, curated by Fernando Francés, shows 41 works: paintings of small and large format drawings, sculpture, photography and video. The artist moves in different disciplines and one of its main features in his work is the domain of painting reminiscent of the great classical masters, with the incursion of contemporary techniques. His particular vision of the human body, with the deliberate distortion of parts of it, sometimes leaving unfinished canvases are other elements that best define his work.
Kati Heck was born in 1979 in Düsseldorf (Germany). Study Fine Arts in Antwerp and the academies of Vienna. He currently lives and works in Antwerp (Belgium). His work has been seen in group exhibitions in galleries and museums around the world, such as the Saatchi Gallery in London (2012) or the National Art Museum of China (2010), along with solo exhibitions at the Tim Van Laere Gallery of Antwerp in Belgium (2011), Mary Boone Gallery in New York (2008) or the Museum Het Domein Sittard, the Netherlands (2008). In 2011 he won the painting prize Ikob Art Price.
This exhibition is in addition to the events planned to mark the tenth anniversary of the CAC Málaga (2003-2013).
