National Underground Railroad Freedom Center announce the Solomon Northup Tour, Guided by its Creators Saturday Only for Oscar Weekend

In honor of 12 Years a Slave’s nine Academy Award nominations, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is offering guided Solomon Northup tours all day, Saturday, March 1, as part of Oscar weekend.

Solomon Northup TourTours start every hour on the hour, beginning at 11 a.m. The final tour is at 4 p.m. Each tour lasts approximately one hour.

The interactive tour leads guests through seven stations inside the museum, providing context for what Northup would have experienced from his time being sold into slavery through his journey to freedom. Available daily as a self-guided tour, Saturday only you can experience the tour live, led by the staff who created it.

While you’re at the Freedom Center, don’t miss our rare, first edition of Northup’s autobiography 12 Years a Slave, which inspired the award-winning film.
