St Carthage Hall is the project space of Lismore Castle Arts. The 2014 season of exhibitions runs from March to November. The programme comprises three solo and two group shows.
Camille Henrot
8 March–13 April
Curated by Matthew Higgs, and presented in collaboration with White Columns, New York, Grosse Fatigue premieried at the 55th Venice Biennale, winning the Silver Lion. Shot at the Smithsonian Institute, the film weaves sound, film and narrative as the artist attempts to tell the story of the universe’s creation. This is the first time Henrot has exhibited in Ireland.
Not I
18 April–6 July
Curated by Andrzej Przywara, Foksal Gallery Foundation,Warsaw, Not I brings together the work of three emerging contemporary Polish artists: Wojciech Bakowski, Roza Litwa and Agnieszka Polska. Folksal were asked to curate an exhibition by Wilhlem Sasnal to coincide with his major solo exhibition at Lismore Castle Arts.
Nicky Deeley
12 July–24 August
An immersive experiential event involving the history, architecture, public spaces and inhabitants of Lismore. Inspired by promenade performance, The Beasts of Lismore follows whispers of narrative trails and takes the audience on a mythical ramble through castles, follies, unfinished bridges, bottomless lakes, mossy corners and windswept crags to find proof of the beasts existence.
Dorothy Cross
6 September–12 October
This exhibition will feature specially commissioned sculptural interventions made in response to the historic architecture of St Carthage Hall, in particular its previous incarnation as a place of worship. Cross has had major exhibitions at Irish Museum of Modern Art, Turnery Contemporary and the RHA Dublin.

18 October–16 November
This annual exhibition is selected by Lismore Castle Arts from the undergraduate degree shows at the art schools across Ireland and endeavours to raise the profile of some of the best emerging artists. As part of the exhibition, Lismore Castle Arts also awards an annual graduate award with works being acquired for the gallery’s collection.
St Carthage Hall was established as a project space by Lismore Castle Arts in 2011, in a Victorian church hall. The exhibition programme is focused on presenting work by emerging and established artists from Ireland and those working internationally. Artists who have exhibited at St Carthage Hall include John Bock, William McKeown, Roman Signer, Superflex, Corban Walker, Klaus Weber and TJ Wilcox.
