Hong Kong Maritime Museum opens Mapping Ming China’s Maritime World – The Selden Map and Treasures from University of Oxford

The Hong Kong Maritime Museum presents Mapping Ming China’s Maritime World – The Selden Map and Treasures from University of Oxford an exhibition on view 21 March – 23 June 2014.

This exhibition presents the early 17th century maritime heritage of the Ming Dynasty, including unique collections from the Oxford University’s Boldeian Libraries. Among the items on display are the Selden Map of China and the manuscript, Shun Feng Xiang Song (also known as Laud Rutter.)

Most of the objects are displayed to the public in Hong Kong for the first time. It is a unique opportunity to experience these extraordinary tools and resources from ancient mariners.

This exhibition is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Maritime Museum and Oxford University’s Bodleian Libraries.
