KMA Lecture: Jasper Johns, In Time with Merce Cunningham

There is a fascinating and lesser-known chapter in the career of Jasper Johns. He was artistic advisor for the avant-garde Merce Cunningham Dance Company, which connected him to movement artists, musicians, and performers, and influenced Johns’s thinking about time and space.

Katonah Museum of Art Executive Director Darsie Alexander to lecture on Jasper Johns’s time as artistic advisor for the avant-garde Merce Cunningham Dance Company, April 2 at 7pm.Cultural Katonah, a new collaboration between Caramoor, John Jay Homestead State Historic Site, and the Katonah Museum of Art offers compelling interdisciplinary programs that showcase Katonah as a cultural destination. Every season, each institution presents a thematic program. This spring, three speakers will examine icons in American culture.
