Museum Super Jet Gets New Moniker for Super Bowl

Douglas A-4F Skyhawk becomes Douglas A-4F Seahawk

SEATTLE – Due to the extraordinary events that will be occurring on Feb. 1 in Phoenix, Ariz., The Museum of Flight will be temporarily renaming one of its iconic fighter jet aircraft for that day, and that day only.

The Museum of Flight Curator Dan Hagedorn said, “We wouldn’t normally engage in such activities but, given the circumstances, we have decided to change the popular name for our Douglas A-4F “Skyhawk” – resplendent, incidentally, in deep blue Blue Angels colors – to Douglas A-4F “Seahawk” for the entire day of the forthcoming Super Bowl. We are also considering assigning a temporary line number of “12” the aircraft as well.”

The world-renowned aviation historian’s bold statement included his insights about this notorious fighter/bomber jet, “As many who have crewed on the aircraft can attest, it was a real fast-mover and a genuine boomer.”

The Museum of Flight is located at 9404 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle, Exit 158 off Interstate 5 on Boeing Field halfway between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults, $17 for seniors 65 and older, $17 for active military, $12 for youth 5 to 17, and free for children under 5.
