CINCINNATI – On June 4th, the nominations were announced for the 51st Annual Ohio Valley Regional Emmy Awards. One of the more memorable political television advertisements from the 2014 election cycle, the Union Terminal “Yes on 8” spot, was nominated in the category of Community/Public Service Announcements.
The commercial featured Beverly Levine of Kenwood who told her story about her family’s experiences with Union Terminal. The ad kicked off with Ms. Levine describing her memories of being at Union Terminal as a little girl. She also told the story of how, as a newlywed, she sent her husband off to World War II under the rotunda of the Cincinnati icon, and, thankfully, welcomed him home again at Union Terminal.
The ad helped propel the “Yes on Issue 8” campaign to victory, earning 61% of the vote, giving Union Terminal the capability to preserve this local icon.
Union Terminal, home of Cincinnati Museum Center, partnered with ZoneCG and Prime Media, two local small businesses, to produce the Emmy-nominated advertisement. The 51st Annual Ohio Valley Regional Emmy Awards will be held at the Keeneland Entertainment Center in Lexington, Kentucky on July 25th.
