Michener Art Museum Local Art Enrichment and Education Program for Students Extended

(Doylestown, PA) The James A. Michener Museum and The Rose Group, a local franchisee of Applebee’s Grill & Bar and Corner Bakery Cafe, announce summer discounts and exhibits for students after a successful School Visit Program during the school year. The art enrichment & education program welcomed 3,330 school tour visitors including 2,800 students and 500 chaperones from September 2014 to June 2015, and more than 35,500 students to date.

While visiting the Museum, students from preschool through grade 12 experience the visual arts and culture through age-appropriate gallery lessons. The Museum’s Education department staff prepares interdisciplinary lesson plans and interactive activities that are integral to multiple school curriculums and support State, National and Common Core Standards in education. After their visit, students receive a complimentary Michener pass allowing them to return to the Museum and an Applebee’s coupon good for a free kid’s meal or $5 off an adult entrée.

Programs for children of all ages, adults and families continue through the summer months, with more than 40 art inspired camps for kids. Need based scholarships are available for all summer programs, and include a one-year Household membership.

This partnership helps the Michener attract a more diverse school audience from Bucks, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Lehigh, Delaware, Chester counties and New Jersey.

“We are grateful that The Rose Group is continuing its support of this program for the eighth year in a row, as it is an important investment in our youth, allowing them to experience the museum galleries as an extension of their classroom learning.” said Lisa Tremper Hanover, Director and CEO of Michener Art Museum. “Our Michener staff does a magnificent job in leading these enthusiastic students on an art-filled adventure and we encourage students to return with their families this summer to continue to share and explore their creativity and passion for art.”
