Build your own SUP Board at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels

On Monday, November 2, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum will begin an eight-day workshop for participants to build their own premium stand-up paddle board to take home. The 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily workshop continues through Monday, November 9 in the Museum’s boatyard, with limited participation and advanced registration needed.

Participants will be led by CBMM Assistant Vessel Maintenance Manager and sawyer Joe Connor in constructing their own premium stand-up paddle board from locally-sourced cedar and poplar. No prior wood working experience is necessary as Connor and museum shipwrights guide class members through each process, ending with participants taking home a fully completed and ready-to-use Chesapeake Bay paddle board.

All materials are included, with the cost of the workshop at $2,200 for CBMM Members or $2,500 for non-members, which includes your own hand-crafted SUP Board to take home and enjoy. Registration for a helper is at $450. To register or for more information, contact Allison Speight at [email protected] or 410-745-4941.
