Kimono & Obi: Romantic Echoes of Japan’s Golden Age at The Baltimore Museum of Art

Kimono & Obi: Romantic Echoes from Japan’s Golden Age, an exquisite selection of late 19th- and early-21st century kimono and obi never shown before, opens Sunday, July 10 in the Jean and Allan Berman Textile Gallery.

To celebrate the opening, Japanese Textile Specialist Ann Marie Moeller will share her insights during a lecture about the meaning behind depicted symbols on Sunday, July 10 at 2 p.m. Reception to follow.

Also on Sunday, Plum Blossom Kimono will present a trunk show of traditional and indigo-dyed kimono robes & jackets, plus scarves & sachets made from vintage kimono fabrics outside of the BMA Shop from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Kimono & Obi: Romantic Echoes from Japan’s Golden Age is organized by BMA Textiles Curator Anita Jones with Consulting Curator Ann Marie Moeller.
