The screening is scheduled for Saturday, August 13 at 1:00 p.m. in the Harriet Tubman Theater. DAR HE: The Lynching of Emmett Till, is a transfixing, true dramatization of the historic interviews and events surrounding the murder of Emmett Till—a 14 year-old African American boy from Chicago, visiting family in Money, Mississippi, whose mutilated body was found in the Tallahatchie River after he was kidnapped and tortured for “whistling at a white woman.” The film was adapted from the acclaimed one-man play written and performed by Mike Wiley. In the play, and the film, Wiley plays each character.

“DAR HE: The Lynching of Emmett Till is a powerful film about a horrific and painful moment in our nation’s history,” says Dr. Michael Battle, executive vice president and provost of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. “Mike Wiley’s moving performance and thoughtful interpretation highlights how a generation of young people came together in a moment of darkness to stand up to injustice, inequality and racially motivated violence.”
