CINCINNATI, OH – The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, in partnership with the Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky Film Commission, invite the media to attend the Freedom Film Series screening of Breaking Down the Box tomorrow, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the Harriet Tubman Theater. The screening is in conjunction with the special exhibition, the Solitary Confinement Cell Exhibit and examines the mental health, racial justice and human rights implications of the systemic use of solitary confinement in U.S. prisons. It is a call to action for communities of faith to engage in the growing nationwide movement for restorative alternatives to isolated confinement that prioritize rehabilitation, therapeutic interventions and recovery.
The screening is free and open to the public and is in partnership with the National Religious Campaign Against Torture (NRCAT) and the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati. Following the film, there will be a public discussion with Rev. Ron Stief, Executive Director of NRCAT and Tim Arnold, Executive Director of Lawn Life.
