The Hofstra University Museum has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support its program Art Travelers Through Time for elementary schools.
Art Travelers is geared toward third graders in schools in diverse districts throughout Nassau County. The program is often the students’ first visit to an art museum and/or to a university campus. Participating districts and schools include Baldwin, Freeport, Hempstead, Rockville Centre, Roosevelt, Uniondale, Westbury along with Trinity Lutheran School and the Long Island School for the Gifted.
The children learn about history and culture when they visit the Hofstra University Museum and study artifacts from its permanent collections – authentic objects from six continents dating back to 5000 BC.
