Applications for prospective Makers close September 22
CINCINNATI – Attention all inventors, tinkerers, hackers, mad scientists and makers! Cincinnati Mini Maker Faire is fast approaching and you only have a few days left to be part of the Tri-State’s largest show and tell! Cincinnati Museum Center’s (CMC’s) family-friendly showcase of imagination, design and ingenuity takes over the Hamilton County Fairgrounds on October 7 & 8 but applications for Makers are due Friday, September 22.
Part of MAKE Magazine ‘s larger Maker movement, Cincinnati Mini Maker Fair is a mix between science fair and county fair that brings together tech inventors, engineers, hobbyists, educators, artists and more. If you have an invention, gadget, workshop, artwork or display to show off visit Cincinnati.makerfaire.com to sign up to be a part of this year’s event.
Fan favorites like OKILUG (Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana LEGO Users Group), the R2-D2 Builders Club, GorillaMaker and Full Frontal Nerdity are among the dozens already signed up. They’ll be showing off cityscapes of remarkable LEGO artistry, full-functioning R2-D2 droids, 3D printing demos and a fiber art workshop. What spectacle will you bring?
If you’re more of a fan than a Maker, there’s still plenty to do and see. Let your creativity run wild armed with nothing but duct tape and cardboard in a cardboard free build area. Able Projects will feature their skateABLE obstacle course and CMC’s exhibits team will debut a Found Sound parade and musical performances using MacGyver’ed giant instruments. Cincinnati Mini Maker Faire will also feature instructional workshops, local food trucks and vendors so you can take a piece of the experience home with you and begin your own Maker journey.
Cincinnati Mini Maker Faire tickets are on sale now and are free for CMC Members. Advance tickets for non-Members are $7. Day-of tickets for non-Members are $10. Parking is $5 cash or credit for all guests. Visit cincinnati.makerfaire.com to purchase advance tickets.
