Museum of Flight to host Bloodworks Northwest Pop-Up Donor Center

The Museum of Flight is partnering with Bloodworks Northwest to conduct a Pop-Up Donor Center at the Museum on July 29, 31 and Aug. 1. Blood donors during this drive will receive a 50 percent discount on a future admission to Museum, plus a 10 percent discount on in-store purchases at the Museum Store. The Museum of Flight galleries are temporarily closed to the general public due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions in Washington state; the Museum Store will be open during the Pop-Up.

“The Museum of Flight has been a proud part of the community for 55 years,” said Museum President and CEO Matt Hayes, “and partnering with Bloodworks Northwest is another way we are happy to play a part in giving back, especially during these tough times. I signed up as a donor and look forward to giving my pint!” Hayes will be donating blood between 1-2 p.m. July 29.

This Pop-Up Donor Center helps Bloodworks Northwest brace for a severe summer blood shortage that could limit local trauma centers access to blood. Donation appointments must be scheduled with Bloodworks Northwest in advance. Curt Bailey, President and CEO for Bloodworks Northwest says, “Chronic shortages of blood we face every summer make partnerships like the one we have with the Museum of Flight and its supporters so important. And because I’m a former helicopter pilot I couldn’t pass up the chance to see this much local aviation history.”
