Cincinnati Museum Center expanding operations with Children’s Museum

CINCINNATI – Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC) is giving guests even more to explore this summer. The reopening of the Children’s Museum and the updated Ice Age Gallery on July 1, a discount on Membership, added showtimes and expanded capacity in the OMNIMAX® Theater and more make CMC the place to spend your summer.

CMC is still requiring all guests ages 2 and up to wear masks for the continued protection of those who are not vaccinated, including children and those with underlying health conditions.

“We’ve been very mindful about how we can provide a safe museum experience that still delivers that wow factor that defines Cincinnati Museum Center,” said Elizabeth Pierce, president & CEO. “Through continued consultation with healthcare professionals and updated guidance from the CDC, we’re excited to be able to reopen more of our experiences with the confidence that we’re doing so in a safe way.”

With so many new experiences available to explore, now is also the perfect time to purchase or renew a CMC Membership. Through July 1, CMC is offering 20% off all Memberships, which means free admission to three museums, free parking and discounts on OMNIMAX® films, featured exhibitions, food and retail.

Children’s Museum reopening July 1
The big news for anxious adventurers of all ages is the reopening of the Children’s Museum on July 1. Favorite exhibits like The Woods, Waterworks, Inside the Grin and more will all be back after a 16-month closure. CMC staff has spent time refreshing the entire Children’s Museum and ensuring each aspect is operating at peak performance. To manage museum capacity and ensure social distancing, guests will be required to reserve a timed entry ticket.

Members can begin reserving tickets on June 14 online or by calling (513) 287-7001. Non-Members can reserve tickets up to four days prior to their visit, with the first tickets going on sale to non-Members on June 26.

Ice Age Gallery opening July 1
The return of the immersive Ice Age Gallery after a five-year hibernation and complete overhaul is sure to excite science and natural history fans. The dynamic gallery brings back the Ice Age trail, populated by stalking dire wolves, prowling saber-toothed cats, a hulking giant bison and a grazing giant ground sloth. The ice cave is also back and set to chill guests in the blue glow of its frosty interior. In addition to new projections and soundscapes, the Ice Age Gallery debuts a 70% original, fully-mounted Mammut sp. mastodon fossil on display for the first time, presenting the prehistoric beast’s awesome size. The gallery will also showcase new scientific research that addresses the historic impacts of climate change, the implications of human interactions that are accelerating the natural process at alarming rates and how we can still mitigate the problem. The Ice Age Gallery reopens July 1.

Expanded OMNIMAX® showtimes and seating
Guests also have more chances to see films in the Robert D. Lindner Family OMNIMAX® Theater. CMC has added a showtime each day and expanded seating capacity from 25% to 30% of maximum capacity, adding ten additional seats per showing. Current award-winning films Great Bear Rainforest and Backyard Wilderness celebrate the harmony of nature and humanity with stunning imagery and incredible animal encounters.
